The Lonely Shadows of Lanark

1LanarkIL 2It's 11:30 a.m.on a Friday in Lanark, IL, and all is still. I'm waiting for the library to open. 3The streets are empty. It's just me and the shadows. 4Marshmallows on a Wire 5101 Broad Street 6American flags line Broad Street, the city's commercial district, flapping violently in the wind. 7Here seems like a nice place to tie up the horse. If I had a horse. Of course. 8The alleys, too, are empty. Not even a feral cat. 9Wind-blown trees make shadows that dance like flames. 10Open Door 11I never did make it to the park. 12Children raised in broken homes are more likely to live as adults in broken homes, like the one above. 13I like how streets become the sun's canvas. No shadow here... 14...then suddenly one appears. 15Lawn Swing 16Side of House 17Utility Pole 18Meters 19If I was looking for people, I bet I'd find one in the bar. 20I'd say I have a pretty great shadow.

    Great photo group. I still love B&W. #3 may be my favorite. I did a series of shots of stepping stones in the garden that Linda plans to put on her blog sometime soon. I’ll try to remember to let you know when it posts.  -M

    Thanks Mark! I’ll look forward to the stepping stone series. Have you done more with food, like you did with the pears a while back? Those were great fun.
