Music is an essential part of any road trip. It’s hard imagine anyone clocking thousands of miles without at least once cranking the volume and singing along at the top of their lungs. With nearly 7,000 songs on my iPod, compiling the perfect road trip playlist is impossible. However, the seven following songs are ones that have surfaced again and again over the years – on mix tapes and CDs – some of which I rocked on my earliest excursions across America. Have more suggestions? You can post your favorite driving jams in the comments box below.
Chuck Berry: No Particular Place to Go
Grateful Dead: I Know You Rider
The Beatles: Two of Us
Lakeside: Fantastic Voyage
The B-52s: Roam
Wilco: California Stars
Joe Dassin: Les Champs-Elysées

You should check out Roger Water’s- the pro’s and con’s of hitchhiking. It is one of the best road albums ever. The devil makes three are great too
Great Water’s album and great band, The Devil Makes Three. Still grateful you turned me onto them. Lately I’ve been rocking the first Outkast album, which has aged quite well.
